Andrew is a geostatistician with over 30 years’ experience in resource evaluation, mining, feasibility studies, mineral resource audits, and due diligence.
In 2011 Andrew founded Martlet Consultants as an independent consulting business to provide both routine and novel geostatistical services in the fields of mineral resource evaluation, mining geology and grade control. He has been involved in a wide variety of geostatistical studies including gold, copper, lead-zinc, nickel (laterite and sulphide), tungsten, molybdenum, silver, iron ore, coal and uranium deposits, and has provided geostatistical support to several operating mines. He has used, and has expert knowledge of, many resource estimation techniques, including linear (eg ordinary kriging) and non-linear (eg indicator kriging) estimation and multi-variate conditional simulation methods. Andrew has developed several applied geostatistical algorithms, including for risk-based grade control and open pit optimisation, geometallurgical applications, and conditional simulation with unfolding and multiple correlated variables. He has presented several geostatistical short courses in Australia, South America, and Europe.
Andrew studied (Ph.D.) at Imperial College, UK, is an Adjunct Professor at (and graduate of) the University of Queensland, and has authored or co-authored more than 30 technical papers in the field.
